Dr. Eric Finzi, Medical Director and President

Eric Finzi, MD, PhD, is the medical director and president of two dermatology practices, Chevy Chase Cosmetic Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Associates in Greenbelt, Maryland.  A true, modern day Renaissance man, Dr. Finzi is a board-certified dermasurgeon, with a PhD in biochemistry, and an accomplished artist and sculptor.  His artwork has been exhibited worldwide in cities including New York City; Los Angeles; San Francisco; Chicago; Miami; Phoenix; Cologne, Germany; and Washington, DC, galleries. With the visual acuity and skilled hands of a sculptor, Dr. Finzi applies his artistic sensibility to his cosmetic dermatology practice by finely sculpting bodies and faces with a variety of high-tech, less-invasive, and safe methods including Tumescent liposuction, fat transfer, and Botox and dermal filler treatments. He also specializes in Mohs Micrographic surgery for the removal of skin cancers, utilizing his artistic ability to carefully reconstruct affected areas.  The results are often life changing for the tens of thousands of people he has successfully treated since 1992.

Dr. Finzi graduated summa cum laude with a BA degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania. He received a full scholarship to Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City where he earned his MD and PhD in biochemistry. Following medical school, he spent two years as a Medical Fellow researching causes and treatments for skin cancer at the National Cancer Institute, a part of the world- renowned National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.  After completing his dermatology residency at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, he founded Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Associates in 1992. He opened the Chevy Chase Cosmetic Center in 2005 to meet the growing interest in cosmetic dermatology.

Author of over 20 research publications, Dr. Eric Finzi has also been on the faculty of the Dermatology Department at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. He is an active member of The American Academy of Dermatology, The American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and The Washington Dermatologic Society, participating in annual meetings and lectures with leading dermatologic surgeons worldwide.

In 2014, Dr. Eric Finzi joined with Dr. Norman E. Rosenthal to publish largest study to date on the effect of OnabotulinumtoxinA (known as Botox) on depression.  The research findings were published in May 2014 in the Journal of Psychiatric Research.

Dr. Finzi has been featured in a variety of television programs including ABC Good Morning America, NBC Today in New York, A & E Investigative Reports: Beauty Under the Knife, and Maryland Public Television Digital Connection.  He has been regularly featured on local Washington, DC, newscasts including WRC-TV (NBC), WUSA-TV (CBS), WJLA-TV (ABC), and WTTG-TV (Fox).  In print, Dr. Finzi has contributed to articles in the Washington Post, Washington Business Journal, Washington Jewish Week, Baltimore Sun, Los Angeles Times, and Boston Herald newspapers, and Newsweek, US News & World Report, Allure, New Beauty, Glamour, Self, Prevention, Bethesda, Capitol File, Maryland Life and Baltimore Style magazines.
