Juvéderm |
As part of the natural aging process, skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds appear. Recently approved by the FDA, Juvéderm is the newest dermal filler on the market. The smooth consistency gel helps to instantly restore your skin's volume in the lips and cheeks, and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your "smile lines" or “nasolabial folds” — the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth.
The smooth consistency Juvéderm gel is made of hyaluronic acid - a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Our medical providers ease Juvéderm under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel. In addition, Juvéderm is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons of color.
How Juvéderm™ Works
Juvéderm is a non-surgical injectible treatment. Our medical providers ease Juvéderm under the skin using a fine needle to augment, or fill, the soft tissue of the dermis—the dense inner layer of skin beneath the epidermis—to add volume and diminish wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm is used most effectively for those wrinkles and folds in the lower third of your face, like your "laugh lines," "smile lines" or “nasolabial folds” and to add volume to the lips and cheeks.
Juvéderm is made from hyaluronic acid —a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to hydrate and add volume. Hyaluronic acid naturally diminishes with age, contributing to the formation of wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm works to correct this by restoring hyaluronic acid in your skin, helping to restore fullness and smooth wrinkles and folds.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm, an injectable gel, is a smooth consistency dermal filler that helps to instantly restore your skin's volume in the lips and cheeks and can smooth away facial wrinkles and folds like your smile lines or nasolabial folds —the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth.
How are dermal filler treatments like Juvéderm & Resylane different from Botox Cosmetic?
Botox Cosmetic is not a dermal filler like Restylane and Juvéderm. Botox Cosmetic relaxes muscle activity and is mostly used to treat frown muscles between the eyebrows (the glabellar area). Juvéderm and Restylane are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that provide volume for a smooth, natural look and feel. When combined, Botox Cosmetic and filler treatments compliment each other, giving you a smoother, fresher, appearance.
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in all humans that helps to hydrate and add volume to your skin. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, hyaluronic acid has also been used for more than 20 years for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.
Is treatment with Juvéderm painful?
Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. Juvéderm ' s smooth consistency gel allows our medical providers to administer it easily. Juvéderm is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Our medical providers may choose to numb (anesthetize) the treatment area(s) to further minimize discomfort.
How long does treatment usually take?
The injection process takes only about 15 minutes. If a numbing anesthetic is used, additional 30 minutes will be necessary prior to treatment.
How soon after treatment will I see results?
You will see an immediate improvement in the treatment area(s) and optimal results in 3 to 5 days.
How much Juvéderm will I need per treatment?
Most patients require one to two syringes per area of treatment to achieve optimal results.
Does the correction last forever?
No, treatment will last up to 6 months. Correction is temporary; therefore, touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are needed to maintain your desired look.
What are the possible side effects of Juvéderm?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reactions such as: redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration.
